Astute Hosting achieves high availability through a combination of our carefully engineered network
infrastructure, and top of the line upstream bandwidth providers. Our infrastructure involves redundancy at every level, starting right from the
server itself all the way to edge of our upstream's global enterprise, carrier class network.
All customers have two active network connections standard, bridged together for
redundancy, which go to ports on two different enterprise grade managed Cisco switches. The switches are trunked together, with uplinks to redundant
routers. Our routers are Sun Microsystems 64 bit Sparc architecture Telco class systems, running OpenBSD with CARP/PF. CARP offers the highest availability of any VRRP
implementation, superior even to Cisco's HSRP. PF with PFSync ensures that both redundant routers fully keep track of all state tables to ensure TCP sessions aren't
dropped during failover.

DDoS Mitigation |

DDoS attacks can be completely debilitating to your infrastructure. Even the best hardware
solutions can't compensate for saturation, and attacks on legitimate ports can make filtering very difficult. This is why
Astute Hosting has formed a strategic partnership to provide DDoS mitigation at the transit level, with deep packet
inspection behavioural analysis to put a stop to attack traffic long before it ever gets to you.
Unlike other DDoS mitigation providers today, our solution is distributed across multiple cities which greatly enhances our
mitigation capacity. We can currently handle up to 4 Gigabits and 2 Million packets per second. The way it works is DDoS
mitigation devices are deployed across Vancouver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal, and New York. Your IP's are then
advertised out of all the different cities simultaneously using BGP Anycasting. When the traffic enters the nearest city,
the bad traffic is dropped right then and there, while the good traffic continues on to you safely here with us in
Vancouver.
